Giving a gift of gratitude this season

December 19, 2017

As we draw toward the festive season whether we celebrate Christmas or Kwanza , one of the best gift that we can give to our girls is one which elevates their self-esteem~  having an attitude of gratitude.

I will always remember the year when we had bought a wooden dolls house for my daughter, it was beautiful ! it came with a family of wooden characters and lovely crafted  furniture. A friend had also bought her a pack of multi coloured hair bobbles. I remember that Christmas morning the delight in her face when she saw these shiny bobbles .  She played the whole day with them and the expensive dolls house was pushed aside.

This taught me valuable lesson, it’s not most expensive things that fill our children hearts, but those that bring simplicity.

Here are just a few tips of how you can encourage the power of gratitude this season.

Contentment ~ keep the season in perspective help them to realise the quality of giving .  This is a great investment.

Creativity

Making home-made presents ~ gives them a sense of purpose and creativity . Making something for others is a great experience in gratitude, they see now their gifts have made others happy: When a child gives you a gift, even if it's a rock they just picked up, exude gratitude. It might be the only thing they have to give, and they have chosen to give it to you.~ Dean Jackson

The gift of experience~ has to be an important part of growing up. A simple walk and taking photos in the area or a family outing will help them see the world in a totally different way. Try something different!

Thank you notes~ get our them to write a note of thanks in response to all those who gave them presents . Or just a simple phone call

I'm learning so much too as it starts with me.
